National Literacy and Numeracy Week!

Middle students at Bellaire celebrated by writing a section of a Rolling Story and also having the Middles Magical Maths Day in the Senior Learning Unit!

Stay tuned for some great pictures of the middles enjoying the Maths Day, and be sure to drop by the Library and read one of the hilarious Rolling Stories!

Last Thursday 40 Grade 4 students performed in GAFFA (Grovedale Arts Festival For All). The group performed ‘Salute to Television’ from the 2008 Bellaire Concert. Everyone performed with a smile on their face  and had a terrific time. Congratulations to all of the students for their amazing behaviour and super performance on the night!

Middle J, A and R are very lucky to have extra hands in their classes for three weeks. We welcome back Mr Dunne and welcome Miss Hosking and Mrs Shawcross to Bellaire! If you see them around make sure you say hello.

This term our D.K.U topic is about ecosystems. We decided it would be great to have some hands on experiences with some marine ecosystems. The middle students ventured down to Queenscliff for an excursion to the beach and The Marine Discovery Centre.

Well done for all your hard work Year 3’s, and thanks to the Year 4’s for their support too!

Anyone for seconds??

This week all the middle unit went to the Anglesea Recreation Camp.

We all had a fantastic time.  We enjoyed rock climbing, beach activities, the giant swing and lots of other new and exciting activities.

Welcome back to all of our Middle Learning Unit families. It is wonderful to see all of the happy, smiling faces back at school after the Easter break. A very special welcome back to Mrs Rau (Campbell) and Mrs Jago (Vertigan) after their weddings last term!

We are looking forward to a terrific term with many exciting events ahead! Please make sure you take note of the camp information below! Only one week left!!!

It’s not okay to be away!

It is important that all students are at school and learning each day, and are only missing school for illness or warranted family reasons. If your child is away from school, please send a note in the diary.

Camp

Everyone in the Middle Learning Unit is very excited about attending the Anglesea Recreation Camp this term. As camp approaches please remember:

J Students need to be dropped off at 8:45am on the morning of their camp. Students must meet their teacher with their bag at the assembly area.

J Students may be collected from the bottom gate at 2:30pm on the day they arrive home from camp. Students who need to be collected after this time can be collected from their classroom.

J Students must be able to carry their own bag.

J Students will need to pack an old pair of shoes that can get wet while they are on camp.

J Where practical, medication must be brought to school a week prior to camp in a named container.

J Camp payments must be finalised by

Thursday 23^rd April 2009.

J Students and parents/guardians must complete the camp contract and return it to school by Friday 24^th April 2009. Please note that the camp contract will only be enforced for serious incidents.

J Camp homework must be discussed and returned to school by Wednesday 29^th April 2009.

We will send the final camp checklist home next week.

The Middle Learning Unit students and teachers have been very busy this term. We have settled into our new classes, had a great time riding our bikes during Bike Ed, cooked delicious pancakes and raised money on crazy hair day!

This week we all participated in the Bellaire Fun Run! All of the Middle Learning Unit students tried their hardest and had a terrific day! Well done everyone!

We have started getting ready for camp and everyone is really looking forward to a fabulous time at Anglesea Recreation Camp next term. If you need extra camp notes, please see the notes page!

Week 5 is a very exciting week in the Middle Learning Unit. We are starting Bike Ed this week and it is Pancake Day on Tuesday! Here are some photos of Middle Unit students cooking pancakes in their classroom!
